La présente contribution propose un bilan de quelque dix ans de recherche en archivistique à l'Université d'Angers. Les motivations de ce programme de recherche, ses orientations thématiques et ses objets sont envisagés. On aborde aussi les questions de structuration institutionnelle et de financement de cette recherche, de son positionnement, au cœur des systèmes universitaires et archivistiques français, ainsi que celle de ses méthodes, nécessairement fortement interdisciplinaires ou pluridisciplinaires. Quelques conclusions ou acquis sur trois axes principaux sont esquissés : histoire renouvelée des institutions archivistiques aux XIXe-XXe siècles, mise en histoire des pratiques archivistiques, des usages et des logiques d'usages des archives. Ces remarques et réflexions autorisent la formulation d'un sous-champ disciplinaire qu'on propose d'appeler une archivistique sociale, attentive à toutes les formes d'interactions entre archives et société à travers certes les services d'archives et les archivistes labellisés, mais aussi tous les autres lieux d'archives présents dans la société.
The present article offers an overview of ten years of research in archival science at the University of Angers. The motives of the research program as well as its thematic orientations and its aims are discussed. Also considered are questions related to institutional structure and the financing of the research, as well as its positioning at the heart of the French university and archival systems, and its methods, which are of necessity interdisciplinary or pluridisciplinary. Several conclusions or gains in understanding are sketched: the renewed history of the archival institutions in the 19th and 20th centuries, the history of archival practices, and archival customs and their underlying logic. These considerations and reflections permit the formulation of a disciplinary sub-category, for which the authors propose the term social archival science, and which studies all the forms of interaction between archives and society, through both the forms of interaction between archival services and recognized archivists and society, as well as all other archival entities in society.
